Music Video:
The representation of the artist in my video challenges forms and conventions of most music videos, this is because in allot of videos you see the artist as a very beautified image, in clear vison and in the light, were we can see them clearly. however in my video, the artist is harder to make out, and allot of the time blured allot and his face isnt clear and is partialy in the shadows, and even though he is the only person in the shot, he isnt in 'the spotlight'.
The first and most obvious link between the music and the video, that follows the conventions of most music videos is the lip syncing, this shows as direct link as the syncing is in time with the words of the song, which the majority of muisc videos have. However besides this, allot of the video challenges the conventions of music videos, this is done in allot of what you see, and the pace of the music, allot of the time when the music slows down, the visuals don't, and keep at the same speed, this is rather different to most music videos, as most of the time when the mosuc sppeds up or slows down, so to does the visuals, creating a conventional link between the two, however mine challenges this conventional link.
The setting and location of my video i think challenge the usual conventions of some music videos, most videos have a changing background throught the video, or a backgrouund outside, however my background is an extreamly blacked out room, which doesnt change thoughout the corse of the video, which is different from most videos. Even though some videos do have a still background, most of the time they will change a little in the video, or even if they don't, it is mostly from music videos of the same or similar genere of music as mine, therefor its follows the genre of my track, but also challengs allot of the more conventional music videos.
The costume and props in my video have used the conventions of a music video of the same or simalar music genre, this is because in allot of alternative/indie muisc videos, the artist is dressed simialr to how the artist in my video is dressed. However if this was to be compared to a more dance, hip-hop or RnB video, then the costumes would be different, and because allot of theis genre of music is the mainstream, this means that my video, overall, challenges the costumes of the majority of music videos you see today. Another aspect my video challenges the majority of music videos is by the props, or the lack of them, my video contains no props what so ever, including instruments, this challenges conventions, as very rarely in videos there will be no props, and or no instruments, thus making my video challenge the conventions of most music videos.
The camerawork in my video was inspired by other videos that challenged the conventions of mainstream videos, this is because the camera in my video does not move, so even though there is no variation in camera shots or angled, this is perpously done, as seen in other videos i took inspiration from, and this challenges convetions as there are normaly lots of diffrent camera angles and shots used in the majorty of muisc videos seen today.
The narative in my music video is not an obvious one, it is part perfromance, and because there is not obvious and deffinite narative, this means that when considering what the narative is, it is open to interpration as to what is happening, this then adds to the feeling of mystery and feeling unsure, this may be sinilar to videos that challenge conventions of allot of music videos, as allot of videos ether are full performance, or have a full narative, wereas mine is kind of inbetwwen these two, which makes my video allot diffrent to the norm.
The musical genre of my video, is an alternative/indie track, that i think my video does suggest, this is done by the idea that idipendant movies or films are usualy of low budget, including indipended music companys making videos, and my video can be seen as a low budget music videos, as there is no probs, and is set in only one location, with one camera, and one person in it, so no actors would have to be hired, as it is the artist in the video, and most of the time is spent in editing, and with no big special effects in, it atrracts the audence by the editing, much like a n indipedent film wont have popular actors or great special effects, it relys on the story to attract the audience, like my video, only diffrent as it relys on the editing to attract the audience. This style can be found in allot of music videos for the indie genre, but contrasts allot with other genres such as RnB and Dance.
The special effects and editing in my video are very diffrent from eachother, there is little or no special effects, but allot of editing. There is al alck of special effects because i wanted to keep the video looking like it did when i recorded it, when i watch it back i liked how it looked and seen no nooed for special effects. The only ones i have used are minor fade to black transitions, which help my video look darker and mysterious, but they are quite minor. However my focus on editing is strong, this is done through may cuts and photos, mixed in with the footage, this was done because, firstly because i seen it neccesry, as i mentioned befor as it lacks a story line, props or actors, it need something to get the audiences attention, and secondly, as the cuts are so fequent and allot of the time fast, it cause confusion and distorion, which again helps the feeling of mystery, but also unease to the viewer.
Digipack & Magazine advert:
The representation of the artist in my Magazine advert follows the theme I am going for of mystery and darkness, this is done by the blury image, and how the artist's picture has his head down, and as you can't you cant see it, it makes the audence wonder, and want to know more. I think that challenges allot of the conventions and usual adverts, and the atrist is usualy easy to recognise and usualy have props or intresting backgrounds to make the whole thing look bigger and better. however mine is also very plain, with no props and a black background, which represents what the video will look like. however it is still simialr to some magazine adverts such as the Kings Of Leon adavet I anylised, as that to is also very plain, and manily just one colour, much like mine.
The Mise-en-scene of my images on my Digipack again are trying to follow the idea of mystery and darkness, with the image on the back of the artist to one one side, were as it is to the centre, and half of the atrist face is covered by darkness, and the image being quite blury, strongly suggests these things. Again the images on the front of the Digipack are blured, and mysterious, but also they are alinged as a sequance of photos, this is a insite into my video, as the video has lots of sequences of photos runing throught it, meaning that the Digipack also reflects the video, and makes them a better package. All of the pictures also are against a black background, with no props, indicating the image being bare and empty, helping the feeling of scaryness and emptyness come through, but the artist is wearing a white shirt, which lets him be seen a little more, but also causes the image to blur more, again creating this sense of darkness and mystery.
The use of font and style are the same in both my digipack and my magazine advert, my choice of font was to have tall and skinny writing to make it look quite formal but scary, and white to make it contrast with the black. the writing also is very spaced out, also making it look formal and tidy, allot of digipacks, especily of the same genre as mine will do this, as aposed to Rap or hiphop albums, that they genrely have there writing very colourfull and allot of the time in a graffi style of writing, which is a big contrast to mine, so in some ways to challenges forms and conventiuons, but other times follows them.
There is very little writen content in both my advert and digipack, I did this to make it look bare and so the audience will look at the image or images. this also serves as a way of showing what you need to show, and not have any writen content that isn't needed, and anything to distract the audience from what you are wanting to tell them, this is done in many didgipack and adverts for this reason, you are wanting to tell the audience important infomation ie. what the album is called and when it will be released.
How effective is the combination of my main product and ancillary texts? (Brand Identity)
I chose to answer this question using Prezi.

What have I learned from my audience feedback?
To get my feedback, I asked friends and other media students to watch my music video, and then asked for feedback and asked questions such as, what were the strengths and weakness of my video, and did you enjoy it. While answering I recorded there responses.
Daniel Horsley: Media Student
“When I watched the video, I thought it was going to be quite boring, as it is only one person in a room, but it kept me entertained to the end, I liked the fast edits, and the mixture between video footage and photos, which looks quite crazy and at some points I was confused to what was going on, but it thought this was done in a good way".

I learnt information about my music video of the people I had asked, originals I thought that even though it doesn't have a strong narrative, I thought that people who like a strong narrative would still enjoy it despite to lack of one, and that the editing would keep them interested, however i found out that some people who relay like videos with strong narratives, said that they disliked the video and were not very interested in it.
I have also found out that my videos suits the track well from feedback, this is very important for a video to do this, and also I tried relay hard to find the right track to what I had in my head, which would suit.
Despite my feedback, it did not cause me to make any changes to my video, this was because I was pleased with how it turned out as a final product, and the negative comments that I got, if I was to address them, it would change to video to much, such as adding a narrative, this would change my video to much, and so I didn't make drastic changes from feedback.
